Fees
My fee for a 45-minute session is $190 per session. Fees are adjusted each year, broadly in line with the CPI.
For a 45-minute session there is a rebate of around $74 if your out of pocket expenses for services provided under Medicare is below the threshold of the Extended Medicare Safety Net. After reaching the Extended Safety Net Threshold there is a rebate of around $167 per session and that rebate will apply for all sessions for the rest of the calendar year. If you have a partner and you have registered that partnership with Medicare, then the out of pocket expenses for both of you are combined when considering the Extended Medicare Safety Net threshold. Likewise if you have a family registered with Medicare, all out of pocket expenses for medical services for all family members contribute to the Extended Medicare Safety Net threshold.
There is no limit to the number of sessions attracting a Medicare rebate.
No GP referral is required to receive Medicare rebates for session fees. No Mental Health diagnosis is needed, and no Mental Health Care Plan is required.
An invoice is issued via email after each session. The fee can be paid either by bank transfer or via credit card. Once the payment is received a receipt is issued and if you are agreeable, a claim for a Medicare benefit is submitted on your behalf. That rebate is usually paid into your account within a day or two.
Making an Appointment
Appointments can be made without the need for a referral from a General Practitioner.
A Mental Health Plan is not required to claim Medicare rebates. Medicare rebates apply to fees for all sessions throughout the year, and there is no specified limit on the number of sessions.
